Hi, I’m Tim!

About me; I like doing origami, I live in the Denver Metro area, and I’m light on my feet.

If you’re a potential employer, here’s what you want to probably know; I’m a Ruby on Rails developer, with a couple of years’ full-time, RoR developer experience. I’ve worked in large, enterprise settings, doing management and monitoring of hardware assets. I’ve worked in logistics, supporting applications that shipped over 70,000 units a day. I’ve worked in a startup, building a new system to support logistics, from scratch.

I’ve been working in IT for the last 22+ years. For most of that time I was on-call for system administration work; check servers, bring them up when they’re down. I’ve even done a fair amount of datacenter work; Bringing up new servers, managing patch panels, and ILO networks, running cables, managing cooling systems, writing and exercising disaster recovery procedures, managing system and data backups, SAN infrastructure, and a bunch of other things that to into managing a datacenter.

Along with this kind of work, I’ve participated in several larger scale deployments of monitoring systems, which extended across the continental United States, as well as Australia and Europe. Large-scale monitoring, brought into a single pane. This entailed building overall solutions for common devices, as well as system-specific solutions for in-house products.

My interest is to take what I know about System Administration, and apply it to software development. There’s a lot of room in the industry for building more reliable software solutions.
